My connection with Farnham is long. My family first came here in the late 1700s. As a small child during the war, I lived in Saven End Lodge when my mother was commandant of the Red Cross hospital at Hassobury. My parents moved here as I left school , I came and went until spending 4 years in Hong Kong where I married. On our return we lived on Farnham Green, then moved to Hazel End in 1980. I joined the Parish Council before we moved and have been Vice Chair and Chair. I too have been involved with the Red Cross, with the management of the Essex Branch and as a member of the Uttlesford Emergency team which mostly dealt with refugees arriving at Stansted Airport; now disbanded. I was a Trustee of the school and am still of the Gosling Educational Foundation, which gives prizes and hosts a feast at the school every year. I have farmed at Hazel End in partnership with my husband since 1974.
